Peaky Blinders Story

Synopsis

Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy), together with his brothers Arthur and John Shelby (Paul Anderson and Joe Cole), returned to Birmingham in 1919 after serving in the British Army during World War I. Thomas is the boss of the Peaky Blinders, a powerful gang that runs Birmingham along with their aunt Elizabeth 'Polly' Gray, who's also the treasurer of the gang. The Shelby siblings are infamous for their barbaric practice of stitching razor blades into the brims of their distinctive Herringbone hats to use against their foes when the situation required violence.

Shelby, though, has greater plans than just regulating the streets of Birmingham city and wants to expand his empire and eliminate anybody who stands in his path. However, when the gang takes a stockpile of weapons during a heist, they somehow attract the attention of Chester Campbell (Sam Neill), an Ulster Protestant Chief Officer from the RIC. However, Campbell's in for a treat as Tommy's not about to let Campbell force his gang out. A battle is on its way, and no one knows how it will finish. You'll have to watch the show to find out how it concludes.

Why should you watch Peaky Blinders?

Peaky Blinders and its crew are the first to successfully redefine the gangster genre on television. Through its cinematography, vintage clothing, cast performances, and establishment of a strong mafia legacy, the show has been able to capture the attention of viewers and leave them wanting more. It's the perfect blend of story, acting, dialogues, background music, and romance which makes it stand apart from the others, especially the acting and dialogues. The ideal combination of an intriguing plot, dialogues, outstanding cast, and impeccable background music sets the show apart from its competitors.

You've never gone on an expedition of crime, money, power, and politics like this one. The show is intriguing, different, and impossible to overlook. Cillian Murphy, who portrays Thomas Shelby, and Helen McCrory, who plays Polly, both have outstanding acting abilities. In their cameos, Adrian Brody and Tom Hardy were brilliant and captivating. Other than this, each and everyone in the cast is flawless. They did justice to their distinct roles, and when this brilliant cast is coupled with excellent script and music, the result is a masterpiece. This is one of those shows where any reasonable discussion will still undervalue how fantastic it is. As a result, this is a must-see.

Trivia Alert

  • Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds composed Red Right Hand, which is the theme song for Peaky Blinders. This song has been included in several well-known movies and television shows. To mention a few, are Dumb and Dumber (1994), the Scream trilogy, Jack Irish: Bad Debts (2012), and numerous Irish movies and television shows.
  • Michael Gray and John Shelby portrayed by Finn Cole and Joe Cole are real siblings.
  • During the 1890s, the real Peaky Blinders did not have razor blades in their herringbone hats since they were also too expensive for the gang to afford and were also regarded as a luxury item. The concept of concealing razor blades in their hats comes from ‘A Walk Down Summer Lane’, a John Douglas novel.
