Synopsis
Ginny and Georgia start off as this small family trying to fit into this white neighbourhood in Massachusetts. It is a comedy-drama show but it also involves a lot of secrets. You are in for a rollercoaster with this show. This is a ten-episode series. And currently, only the first season has been out. So Antonia Gentry and Brianne Howey are playing the title roles. Georgia is a free-spirited mother and raises two kids, Ginny the 15-year-old daughter and Austin her younger son.
Ginny is a teenager which means she is kind of angsty and trying to manoeuvre through her new high school. She is very clever but it’s difficult for her to make friends. Her stepfather just died and they had to shift their entire life to this new town. Georgia Miller, a young mother has been running from her past life and desperately wants to fit into this new place and have a normal life in this fictional town called Wellsbury. However, secrets start coming out and Georgia’s past starts threatening her. The show ends on a cliffhanger which makes it all the more interesting. The show has been gearing for the next season which will hopefully connect the pieces together.

Ginny and Georgia will surely make you laugh. You will enjoy the dynamic mother-daughter duo that will definitely lighten your mood. Their relationship is often compared to ‘Gilmore Girls’ but here Ginny is constantly embarrassed by her mother. However, do not underestimate this series of simple comedies.
It focuses on very serious issues that society has been facing. Problems like body-shaming, racism, harassment, and self-esteem. It also mentions teenage pregnancy since Georgia was a teen mom with Ginny. Such topics give you more reasons to watch this show. All the above issues have been shown quite realistically. Each episode opens a new piece of information about Georgia’s past. It lures you to click on the next episode because it grows on you. The mysteries and the structured narrative that is intense and light at the same time.
The creator of the show, Sarah Lampert, and the executive producer, Debra Fisher, cooked this complex show which slowly reveals the buried skeletons from Georgia’s past. The production does a very good job at painting the high school picture once again.
