Her father, Somesh Chadda is the owner of a management firm and her mother, Kusum Chadda is a professor who has also written two books. Her mother is also known for having worked with Gandhi Smriti.

Career:

Richa started her career as a model. She later joined theatres and went on tours in and outside the country. She then also got trained by Barry John.

Richa Chadda started her movie career in the year 2008 with the movie Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! The film might not have been a great commercial success but Chadda’s performance was noticed by both the audience and the critics.

She then moved on to playing many more supporting characters and every time she stood out and proved herself to be a better actor than many of the mainstream actresses. The character Nagma Khatoon played by her in the Anurag Kashyap directorial movie Gangs of Wasseypur got her recognition not in India but in overseas as well.

Richa won the Stardust Editor’s choice performer of the year award for her movie Masaan in 2015. The same year, she got Films of India Online Awards for Special Jury Mention for Achievement in Acting for the same movie. She won Best Actress (Critics) for her movies Gangs of Wasseypur.

Richa Chadda can very well be given the tag of a queen of controversies as she has not created two or three controversies but many. One was when she gave a statement to a newspaper against the campaign #SelfieWithDaughter created by the Prime Minister of India himself! Although, she later gave clarification on her statement. But, she made the entire nation go berserk.
