Rani Mukerji married Aditya Chopra on 21st April 2014 in Italy. Both Rani and Aditya tried their best to remain silent on their personal relationship, however, speculations about the couple were rife. Before closeness between Rani and Aditya grew, Rani’s name was also associated with other actors. However, none of those relations could last long.
Rani is the daughter of one of the former film director Ram Mukerji and former playback singer Krishna Mukherjee. She has an elder brother named Raja Mukherjee (a film producer and a director). Debashree Roy, her maternal aunt is also a film actress in Bengali movies. Kajol is her paternal cousin, another known figure, in the Hindi film industry.

It was at the age of eighteen years when Rani Mukerji enacted a supporting role in Biyer Phool (Bengali movie). Later, she received an acting proposal for a role in Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat. This time Rani’s mother insisted her to keep working on an experimental basis. Before her project acceptance, the actress pursued training at Roshan Taneja’s Institute for acting.
Ghulam was officially her first commercial success in the Indian film industry. Chronologically following Ghulam, was her role in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. This movie proved to be a significant turning point for Rani Mukerji. Moving on further in her career, the actress was desperate to work on more challenging projects. Subsequently, she undertook, Badal and Bichhoo. However, both these films failed to engage the audience at a profitable end.
Years 2004 to 2006 were financially successful years for the actress, where she gave in some outstanding performances and clinched in massive success. During her career struggle from 2007 to 2010, Rani witnessed a professional setback. Again, she rose back to success with her contributions to thriller movies from 2011 to 2014.
After the actress gave birth to a beautiful daughter, she underwent a hiatus for nearly four long years. After four years, her husband, Aditya Chopra persuaded her to return to her profession.
Being short-tempered in nature, Rani could never keep herself away from the controversial world. Be it either her fierce reply on Simi’s India’s Most Desirable Show or the tension that mounted between her and Kajol; there is a huge list. There was a time where Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rani Mukerji had a cold war between them.
Rani Mukerji loves to enjoy having fish prepared by her mother. Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan are amongst her favourite actors while Sridevi and Sharmila Tagore are her favourite actresses.
