Ramya Krishnan is married to Telugu film director Krishna Vamsi. She married Krishna on 12th June 2003. The couple has a son named Ritvik.

Family

Ramya Krishnan is the daughter of Mr Krishnan and Mrs Maaya. She has an uncle named Cho Ramaswamy and a sister named Vinaya Krishnan. 

Career

Ramya began her acting career at the age of 13 and played the lead role in the movie Vellai Manasu. Her first Telugu movie was Bhalae Mithrulu. It was under the guidance of K. Raghavendra Rao that Ramya was able to attain a name for herself in the Telugu movie industry. Some of her biggest Kannada hits include Gadibidi Ganda. She also appeared in a game show named Thanga Vettai.

Her first appearance in Telugu movie was in the year 1984. She has also played the main lead in many Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi movies. She has appeared in 10 Hindi movies as of 2018. She has also appeared in seven television shows.

Controversies

Ramya was entangled in a major controversy when it was reported that she was in an affair with director K.S. Ravikumar and it is said that Ravikumar’s wife threatened Ramya after which the closeness ended.

Favourites

Ramya likes South Indian food very much. However, chicken curry and brown rice are her favourite dishes. Ramya considers Jayalalitha and Cho Ramaswamy, who is her uncle and comedian as her inspiration. Ramya likes dancing a lot and is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer.

Ramya Krishnan has won numerous awards through the duration of her career. Some of the popular awards won by the actress include Filmfare Award for Best Actress - Tamil for the movie Padaiyappa in the year 2000, Nandi Special Jury Award in 1999 for the movie Kante Koothurne Kanu. She also won the Nandi Awards for Best Supporting Actress in 2010 for the movie Raju Maharaju, Filmfare Award for Best Actress for Bahubali 2 and IIFA Utsavam Award for Best Performance in the year 2016 for Bahubali: The beginning.
