Pawan Kalyan was first married to Nandini between 1997 and 2007. He then got married to Renu Desai in 2009 but separated in 2012. Since 2013, he is married to Anna Lezhneva. He has two children from his second wife and one son from his third wife.

Family

Pawan Kalyan was born as Konidela Kalyan Babu in Andhra Pradesh to Venkat Rao and Anjan Devi. He is related to several film personalities. Actor Chiranjeevi and actor-producer Nagendra Babu are his elder brothers. He is the uncle of actors Ram Charan, Varun Tej, Allu Arjun and Sai Dharam Tej.

Career

Pawan Kalyan made his film debut with the 1996 film Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi. After a couple of moderate successes, he did Tholi Prema which was a huge success and earned Kalyan critical praise. Over the next few years, Pawan Kalyan starred in films that were big commercial successes. These include Thammudu (1999), Badri (2000), and Kushi (2001). Kushi was also critically acclaimed along with Kalyan's performance. However, his next film Johnny (2003) bombed terribly at the box office.

In 2006, Kalyan appeared in Annavaram. The movie was a huge success and helped Kalyan reach the top of the Telugu industry, rivalling his brother Chiranjeevi. The next year he starred in Jalsa, which was again a massive success at the box office. In 2012, Pawan Kalyan starred in Gabbar Singh, a remake of Dabangg, which was a box office hit. His next two films - Attarintiki Daredi (2013) and Gopala Gopala (2015) - were successful both critically and commercially. His 2016 movie Sardaar Gabbar Singh tanked at the box office. In 2017, Katamarayudu was a financial success. His film Agnyaathavaasi, which released in 2018 received poor response critically and commercially.

Apart from acting, Pawan Kalyan has also done work as a producer, writer, choreographer, playback singer, stunt coordinator and director.

Pawan Kalyan is also active in politics. In 2014, he formed his party Jana Sena and intends to compete in the 2019 General Elections.

Controversies

Pawan Kalyan's fans are notorious for their behaviour on social media. On more than one occasion, they have abused and trolled any individual who has criticised the actor. His frequent divorces and re-marriages have caused much controversy in the film circle.

In April 2018, actress Sri Reddy used degenerating language and symbols against Pawan Kalyan, which caused a massive controversy in the industry.

Pawan Kalyan has been nominated thrice for Filmfare South Best Actor (Telugu) award and won it once for Gabbar Singh (2012).
