Meera Jasmine has always made headlines with respect to her numerous link ups and relationships. However, the actress decided to settle down and married Anil John Titus in the year 2014. Anil is a Dubai based software engineer who was once married before as well. 

Career

Meera Jasmine graced the film industry with her debut film ‘Soothraram’ in Malayalam. The film in itself did not do well. However, the actress shot to fame and landed up with a series of Malayalam films, her second critically acclaimed film was ‘Gramophone’.  This highest grossing actor then went on to do Malayalam films like ‘Kasthoorimaan’, ‘Swapnakkoodu’ consecutively. Jasmine’s film ‘Padam Onnu: Oru Vilapam’ won State and National award for the role of a young teenage girl forced to marry an old man. Other Malayalam films credited to her name are ‘Perumazhakkalam’, ‘Achuvnte Amma’, ‘Rasathantram’, ‘Calcutta News’, ‘Ore Kadal’, ‘Patintte Palazy’ etc. Meera Jasmine made her debut in Tamil movie with the film ‘Run’ that was a massive hit and led her to do successive Tamil films with established superstars. Another film that did well was ‘Bala’ but post this almost all her Tamil films fell flat with little or no success. The multi-talented Meera Jasmine entered Kannada film with the movie ‘Maurya’. Consecutively, she also did other Kannada films like ‘Aarasu’ and ‘Devaru Kotta Thangi’ that resoundingly proved her might in film industry. 

Controversies

Meera Jasmine had stirred up a massive controversy by entering the ‘Rajrajeshwara temple’ in Kerala that prohibits anybody other than people with Hindu religion to enter. As a penalty, the actress had to pay a sum of Rs 10,000 to the temple authorities in order to purify the temple. She was also made to apologize to hurt the sentiments of Hindus. Post this incidence, there was also a rumour that Jasmine had converted into Hinduism but she brushed away all this rumour.

Meera Jasmine’s favourite actors are Rajinikanth and Mammootty and her favourite actress is Arundhati Roy. She enjoys ‘fish curry’ the most as her favourite delicacy.

Meera Jasmine has many awards and accolades in her name. She won her first ‘Filmfare award’ for the film ‘Kasthooriman’. For the film, ‘Paadam Onnu:Oru Vilapam’, the actress won ‘National Film Award’ in the category ‘Best Actress’ in the year 2004. Besides, she also won ‘Kerala State Film Award’ for the best actress twice.
