Madhoo is 39 years old (as of 2018), was born on 26 March 1969. Her real name is Madhoobala Raghunath and was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She is 5 feet and 4 inches tall.

Madhoo belongs to a family, which has deep connections with the business of making movies. Although her father Raghunath, and mother Renuka have no immediate connections with films, she is the niece of actress Hema Malini. She is also the maternal cousin of Esha Deol, and interestingly, the famous Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla is her sister-in-law.

Career

Madhoo made her Bollywood debut with the movie Azhagan which was released in 1991. Later the same year, she also played the lead actress in the hit Bollywood movie Phool Aur Kaante.

She has also acted in a bunch of Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam movies. She made her debut in the South Indian film industry with the movie Ottayal Pattalam. She was also a part of the critically acclaimed Tamil hit Roza, which was directed by Mani Ratnam. Roza won various awards and accolades, it won the National Film Award for Best Film on National Integration. It was also nominated in the best film category at the 18th Moscow International Film Festival. Madhoo has also contributed to a number of Tamil and Hindi television shows.

Her latest releases include Nannaku Prematho, Nannaku Prematho and Surya vs Surya.

She received the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards in the year 1992 and in the year 2016, she was nominated for Filmfare Awards South for best supporting actress.

Controversies

When the actress was staging a comeback with the movie Kabhi Socha Bhi Na, the actress found herself amidst controversy. The director of the movie has gone on record and stated that the actress had a very unprofessional approach in going about the business. This controversy took a new angle when her husband and in-laws got into the thick of things. Apparently, the actress suggested that the title of the movie be changed from Kabhi Socha Bhi Na to Love, Sex, etc. to which the close family members of the actress were not too happy.

Trivia

She was roped in by father of Ajay Devgn, who is Veeru Devgan, to play the female lead opposite his (Veeru Devgan) son in his debut movie Phool Aur Kaante.
